Chairman Steven Rockefeller and Mr. Liu Zhong Jointly Held an Art Exhibition and New book issuance

On Jun. 5th, Mr. Steven Rockefeller and Mr. Liu Zhong’s Joint Art Exhibition was held in Hangzhou Delong Art Gallery.  Mr. StevenClark Rockefeller II, born in New York State of America in 1960, is the grandson of former US Vice President Nelson Rockefeller.  His dedication to poverty alleviation was recognized with a Fulbright Award.  Mr. Rockefeller is also a photographer and video artist.  His art works have been exhibited in famous American museums and cultural and art institutions many times.  He provides long-term support towards Sino-US cultural exchanges, and has a personal hobby of collecting Chinese works of art, which initially led to the acquaintance between Mr. Liu Zhong and Mr. Steven Rockefeller. 

Mr. Liu Zhong, born in Beijing in 1969, has served as the Chief of Director and Liaison Department of the Chinese Artists Association as well as Standing Director-General and Deputy Secretary-General of Chinese Society of Painting, in addition to being a senior member of the Central State Organs Youth Federation. His works have been invited to exhibitions in the United States, France, Italy, Germany, Japan and some other countries, winning numerous awards. He had been invited to hold a personal exhibition during the 29th Beijing Olympic Games and some other major international cultural and sports events. 

Mr. Rockefeller praised Mr. Liu Zhong's works, in the sense that it portrayed a deep and close link between animals, nature and humanity, reflected the principle of environmental protection, and a call for peace.  Mr. Rockefeller has openly expressed his appreciation and recognition of their creative ideas. 

In early 2015, Mr. Rockefeller invited Mr. Liu Zhong to visit the cowboy town——Jackson, Wyoming to take photos and paint paintings. Both artists recorded the intoxicating natural beauty of winter in the American West by their camera and pen, and completed the creation of Meeting in Winter. The book is a combination of the two artists’ painstaking masterpieces together with the young writer, LiJian’s intriguingarticle.  Mr. QuGeping, Director of the Environmental and Resource Protection Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, and Mr. Liu Dawei, Chairman of the Chinese Artists Association, wrote the sequence for the book. On Jun. 7th, the new book issuance of Meeting in Winter, namely Sino-US Art and Environment Protection Forum was held in China Environment Press. Mr. Steven Rockefeller said the cooperation is a sign and symbol, hoping the international friendship will be left in everyone’s heart.
