Mark Cheung’s imaginative ink and wash painting involves fluent and unrestrained brushstrokes, touched with warm and vivid colors. As a Buddhist, who advocates the teachings of Confucianism, and Taoism, his work embodies Taoist philosophy that great music has notes and for that beyond shapes, which is believed the highest state of artistic expression of emotion in Chinese culture. Combining both non-existing and existing transforms what was a blank medium into a world full of imagination, where the ink flow strokes fill with zenist serenity, exposing the way how the artist’s mind and soul wonders.
