On Dec. 19th, the Co-Chairman of Chinese Culture& Art International Organization, Mr. Steven C. Rockefeller Jr. was invited to participate in Chinese Cultural Foundation’s holiday celebration at Harvard Club in NYC. Consul General of the People's Republic of China in New York, Ambassador Zhang Qiyue; Chairman of the New York Republican Committee, Edward Cox; Distinguished Diplomat& Honorary President of the Asian Association, Ambassador Nicholas Platt; Regional General Manager and President of China CITIC Bank in America, Mr. Wen Bin; New York Branch’ President of China Merchants Bank, Mr. Jiao Cheng Yue; Chief Executive Representative in NYC of Fosun, Mr. Bo Wei; the well-known architect& Chairman of China Institute, Mr. Chien Chung Pei; Chief Representative in America of Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Mr. Zhou Ruisheng (Ralph Chow); Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Consulate General in New York, Mr. Li Liyan etc. over a hundred political and business celebrities in New York attended the event as well.
At the beginning of the celebration, Mr. Steven C. Rockefeller Jr. reconnected and cherished the memory of the former Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, US ambassador to Morocco and the White House Etiquette Executive for Reagan President, Ambassador Joseph V. Reed Jr., who died of illness on September 29. He shared with guests the unforgettable friendship of Ambassador Reed and his family for generations. He quoted the words of his uncle, David Rockefeller: Ambassador Reed is a genteel, wise and exquisite man, a top diplomat.
During his lifetime, Ambassador Reed actively promoted the publication of "Chinese Culture and Civilization" series by Yale University Press and China International Press. Today, the series of books have become an important historical document of American and world scholars' understanding of Chinese culture.
