2016 Silk Road (Dunhuang) International Culture Expo

Authorized by Chinese government, the first session Silk Road (Dunhuang) International Culture Expo (“Dunhuang Culture Expo” in short) will be held from September 20th to September 21st, 2016 in Dunhuang, Gansu province. It is the first and sole advanced platform initiated by Chinese government with the theme of “the Belt and Road” cultural communication.

“Dunhuang Culture Expo” is held by the joint efforts of People’s Government of Gansu Province, Ministry of Culture, SAPPRFT, CNTA and CCPIT. As an open, inclusive, international, diversified and integrated platform for culture exchange and cooperation for countries along “the Belt and Road”, it a festival of cultural communication both for Silk Road areas and the whole world.

With the core theme of “culture”, “Dunhuang Culture Expo” aims at “promoting culture communication and pursuing cooperative development”, advocates the Silk Road spirit of “peaceful cooperation, open and inclusiveness, learning from each other and seek for mutual benefits”, and follows the “innovative, open, pragmatic, cooperative, shared and green” vision of the expo. Through comprehensive, multi-channell, and advanced activities of humanistic communication, mutual learning, cultural appreciation and beneficial cooperation, it helps to form a community of common destiny, interest, responsibility and development along Silk Road areas.

2016 will witness the first session of “Dunhuang Culture Expo”, and from now on it will be conducted as an annual event and Dunhuang will be the permanent venue. Two main programs of summit conference and and culture exhibition as well as a series of subordinate cultural activities will be included in this session.
